February 20, 2024 – The RW Jones Agency is excited to welcome Myla Edmond to the marketing and branding practice as senior vice president. Myla’s work will center on the continued growth of our fractional CMCO (chief marketing and communications officer) focus area, in addition to helping institutions elevate their marketing and branding.

“Marketing and branding are critical components of building institutional reputations,” said Jamie Ceman, senior executive vice president of marketing and branding. “We are fortunate to have someone of Myla’s talent and background join the team to help elevate our work for higher education.”

Myla is a collaborative innovator with nearly 20 years of higher education marketing and brand elevation experience. Having established and expanded marketing and communications strategies for advancement, academic affairs, international education, and university enrollment marketing, Myla has a thorough understanding of university cross-divisional interdependence. Prior to RW Jones, Myla led University Communications and Marketing at California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. There, she advanced brand equity, led cross-functional teams, developed integrated and standardized communications strategies, and influenced change management while evolving the team’s mindset from transactional to strategic partnership.

“Colleges and universities are in need of comprehensive approaches to their marketing and communications,” said Sean Rossall, chief executive officer at the RW Jones Agency. “Myla brings a much-needed integrated approach to schools that will help them stand out as the market gets more competitive.”

At RW Jones, the goal is to provide partners with the strategic frameworks and roadmaps to create, operationalize and measure institutional marketing and communications — keeping reputation top of mind. Myla will join a team that executes successful strategic communications and marketing initiatives that change perceptions, raise awareness and elevate reputation.

“I’m excited to join RW Jones, especially at a time when we are building new methods and pathways to elevate our clients and, ultimately, the industry. As higher education faces significant and mandatory shifts, I’m grateful for the opportunity to help shape how it moves forward. Exploring bold, innovative ways to refine marketing and align branding for institutions across the country will be a constant blend of challenge and inspiration. I can’t wait!”

Today, college and university communications offices have evolved into integrated marketing communications operations, fulfilling demands for research, strategy and action to meet the needs of their institutions.

“Myla is a creative leader with extensive experience in higher education whose work has impacted not only the institutions she worked with, but the industry itself,” said Scott Willyerd, managing partner of the RW Jones Agency. “Myla has the passion and experience to help colleges and universities bring their marketing and communications to a new level.”

Myla’s commitment to the higher education marketing industry has been evidenced by her volunteer work with the American Marketing Association as co-chair of the Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education for two years and most recently, she joined the PRSA Counselors to Higher Education Executive Committee. Myla is a graduate of Western Michigan University and the University of Indianapolis. She is also a proud alumna of Semester at Sea, a multi-country, comparative study abroad program.
