Managing Director, Brand and Marketing Strategy

BIO

As the RW Jones Agency’s lead brand strategist, Joe helps institutions build and leverage their brands through strategies that empower people to align around powerful messaging that drives affinity and action. Before joining the agency in August 2023, Joe served as Executive Director of Client Strategy for Ologie, where he contributed high-level, holistic consultation and strategy support for a number of higher education institutions (Hood College, Ursinus College, Valparaiso University, Washington University in St. Louis). Notably, Joe built the brand strategy for The Coalition for the Common Good, a new consortium spearheaded by Antioch and Otterbein universities.

Prior to his agency work, Joe spent 12 years leading marketing and communications teams at two large Philadelphia universities — Temple University and Drexel University. Joe served as Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Digital Strategy for Drexel University on the in-house team responsible for executing the award-winning Ambition Can’t Wait national brand awareness campaign, the enterprise overhaul of Drexel.edu, and the oversight of all paid and social media for the University’s 15 colleges and schools. Previously, Joe served as Assistant Dean of Marketing, Communications and Enrollment Strategy for Temple University’s College of Liberal Arts, where he helped turn around five years of enrollment declines.

Joe’s work has won more than 25 awards from CASE, PRSA, CUPRAP, and The Telly Awards.

Joe currently serves as Vice President on the board of directors for CUPRAP, a professional community committed to advancing higher education marketing and communications.

Joe graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh, where he double-majored in philosophy and creative writing. Joe lives in South Jersey, just over the bridge from Philadelphia, with his wife and son. When he isn’t building brands, you can find Joe mixing cocktails or writing songs on his trusty Gibson J-45.
