Tribal colleges are immensely influential to Native American students, especially when compared to non-native colleges, as researched by the Center for Community College Student Engagement.

The CCCSE survey conducted in 2017 shows Native American students feel a better sense of cultural belonging, better teacher-student relationships, and better access to electronic devices and the Internet than Natives Americans at non-native institutions.

The survey states every dollar that Native American students pour into their education, the return back for their future income is quadrupled. As the students in these colleges are sometimes the sole representative for their families, these students help elevate the mobility and economic status of their communities.
