Joe Master Headshot

Managing Director

Joseph Master is a writer, storyteller and strategist who loves helping institutions build and leverage their brands through initiatives that empower people and streamline processes. Most recently Joe served as Executive Director of Client Strategy for Ologie, where he was responsible for offering high-level, holistic consultation for a number of higher education institutions, while contributing to business development, and relationship management for the agency.

Prior to his agency work, Joe spent 12 years serving two large Philadelphia universities – Temple University and Drexel University. Most recently, Joe served as Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Digital Strategy for Drexel University on the in-house team responsible for executing the award-winning Ambition Can’t Wait national brand awareness campaign, the enterprise overhaul and launch of Drexel.edu, and the oversight of all paid and social media for the University's 15 colleges and schools. Previously, Joe also served as Assistant Dean of Marketing, Communications and Enrollment Strategy for Temple University’s College of Liberal Arts, where he helped turn around five years of enrollment declines, while building an integrated marketing and communications operation from scratch.

Joe began his career as a journalist and editor. Since then, he has personally executed just about every duty in higher education marketing and communications. He understands that every employee, from an entry-level writer to a university president, must get behind the same vision for a MarComm office to make a true impact on enrollment, awareness and donorship — and he has spent his career bridging those gaps, and advocating for the professional development of teams to beat the shifts in our industry.

Joe’s work has appeared in print, radio, television commercials, and on tiny screens across the nation in initiatives that blur the lines between traditional and digital media. Joe also serves as Vice President on the board of directors for CUPRAP (College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals), an organization devoted to advancing higher-ed marketing and communications through professional development. RW Jones's founder and namesake, Dick Jones, was a founding member and the fourth president of CUPRAP.

Joe graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh, where he double-majored in philosophy and creative writing. When he isn't working or writing (because writing is never work), you can find Joe cooking seafood or watching movies with his wife, Kate, and son, Christian, or writing music on his trusty Gibson J-45.
