Tell us a bit about you:
I am originally from Houston, TX, but I was raised overseas and have moved around the U.S. for various jobs in television news. I attended Duke University and have a degree in Public Policy Studies. My interest in public relations/journalism came from a basic skill I mastered as a child, which is being able to explain what it was like to live in the Middle East to friends and family. I truly enjoy listening to people and figuring out the most interesting and intriguing way to share their stories.
What are your hobbies?
I love dancing, baking and writing. I also run a widow support group. I’m a remarried widow who knows the sting of grief and heartache all too well. COVID interrupted the flow of the in-person brunches I loved to organize for my group of ladies, but I’m excited to relaunch soon with new ways to connect with the bereaved community to continue to inspire hope and healing.
What skills do you rely on most in your professional life?
Writing and time management.
What is your favorite color?
Red is my favorite. It’s bold and beautiful. I feel strong and happy whenever I wear it. Every Delta woman looks great in a red dress! However, I also love purple.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
That’s easy! Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be?
I grew up in Saudi Arabia; It was a truly transformative experience. I’ve been traveling internationally ever since that first plane ride at four years old. I’d love for my daughter to have that experience, but I also love raising her in the same country as her grandparents. However, my goal is to fill my life with as much peace as possible so I’d like to pack up and move to an island one day.
Least Known Fact About You?
I was the first Black prom queen of my high school in Southlake, TX.
What are your favorite podcasts?
I listen to the New York Times’ The Daily. I also enjoy Terrible, Thanks for Asking and a few encouraging/inspirational podcasts.
What is your favorite season of the year?
I love fall. I may be biased because my birthday is in September. There’s also something special about summer. Although everyone smelling like grass and sweat while playing outside with the kiddos can be a con, everyone seems happier (to me) during those months. Plus, we have more daylight, and having more light in your life is always a positive thing.
Do you collect anything?
If you see a spare nap around, please send it to me! But seriously, I collected Barbies when I was a child and had a pretty extensive collection. I’m now starting a new collection for my little girl.
